There's many other types of processor that the reaplugs won't replicate either.There's a hube difference between 'getting by just fine' and using certain tools to achieve a certain sound. There are compressors in the waves line up that reacomp just will not replicate. And as I say, with my modest system, this is much easier with vst like ReaEQ, Loudmax and some sensible panning, compression, sidechaining, selective reverb in the mix.Basically the answer is yes - you are wrong. One of them(I mean newbie) can buy plugin and he/she will learn the plugin and spend some time to analyse its structure and functions that it performs.I don't even care if people are "analysing" their plugins. Well, there are some kinds of people. Therefore you would be expected to use some professional plugins.The great thing with Reaper is you can entertain yourself by producing the same tracks with stock plugins and compare that to pro plugins.Let's not be so keen on the race to the bottom.Right. Basically it depends on if you only need VSTs or if you use VSTis.I will add that just because you could work that way doesn't mean that it would be optimal or desirable.If you are recording a group of friends or professional bands or even orchestras you will be expected to use the best tools you can afford. OTOH if you are trying to make electronic music or orchestral/cinematic music (without access to a full orchestra), not a chance.I aree with the majority of comments by all the users here.Steve here has actually written something very close to what I was going to say. If your start point is recording a full set of good musicians with good gear then you should be able to get decent results with only the stock plugins.
